12 Bones is a popular BBQ joint in the River Arts District serving the best ribs in Asheville. It’s also President Obama’s go-to on his Asheville visits. They have several BBQ varieties, but we especially love their brown sugar-rubbed ribs and corn pudding.
You’ll find both indoor and outdoor seating 12 Bones. You first order at the counter and get a number and they’ll bring it to you. Inside has a classic BBQ joint feel. There are self-serve drinks and barbecue sauces, napkins and even wet naps.
They have a separate area for ordering takeout. You can order ahead online and they’ll have it waiting there. It’s a great option to feed a group because you can order their meats and sides in a variety of sizes. Plus, they sell 12 Bones Brewing beer in 6 packs.
