West Asheville’s newest coffee shop
Rowan Coffee’s West Asheville location, which just opened in April 2025, has quickly become a local favorite.
It’s easy to see why, with its gorgeous interior featuring tall ceilings, exposed brick, and large windows.
Beyond the stunning aesthetics, the coffee craft is on point. Plus, you can enjoy your brew with their outdoor seating, and they also offer a selection of food options.
Charming bake shop with coffee
OWL Bakery is our top pick if you want a charming place to enjoy a pastry and espresso drink in West Asheville. They also have a great outdoor patio around the back that’s perfect when the weather is nice.
OWL is one of favorite places in all of Asheville for a regular cup of coffee. They brew Methodical Coffee (out of Greenville, SC) and also sell their whole beans in the shop. It’s delightful!

Not only does Cooperative Coffee has excellent coffee and espresso drinks (they’re a roaster!), but they also have the best outdoor seating in town. You’ll find their two level patio on the side– the bottom level has picnic tables and hammocks!

Odd’s Cafe is a long-standing Asheville favorite that offers the true West Asheville experience. They serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and smoothies. Be sure to check the specials board for their unique, ever-changing offerings.
Their food menu includes a variety of baked goods (with some gluten-free and vegan options), New York bagels, smoothies, and quiche.
Odd’s is open daily until 8PM.

Bad Manners Coffee is one of West Asheville’s newer coffee shops, having opened its pink-walled brick-and-mortar location in December 2023 (after previously operating as a coffee cart).
It stands out from more traditional coffee shops with its bright, rebellious, and unapologetically pink aesthetic.

BattleCat Coffee Bar is a well-known independent coffee shop in West Asheville. It’s located in a colorful old house with a welcoming front porch.
BattleCat is recognized for its funky, politically progressive vibe and is a favorite for locals.
They offer a full range of coffee and espresso drinks, using locally roasted PennyCup coffee beans.
