Welcome to Asheville’s ever-changing food scene! If you’re trying to keep up with the latest culinary happenings, this article provides an overview of new restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and cafes.
It’s been a bit of a challenging year for Asheville’s hospitality industry due to the devastation from Hurricane Helene in September 2024. The storm caused significant disruptions, leading to several restaurant closures in Asheville.
However, Asheville’s resilient spirit shines through, and we’re heartened to see a steady stream of new spots opening their doors as the city continues its recovery.

New Restaurants In Asheville (2025)
Before we jump into the brand new restaurants, we first want to share the great news that several that were flooded during Hurricane Helene have reopened. Welcome back to High Wire RAD and DayTrip (new location.) Corner Kitchen and Finch Grocery also have plans to reopen.
Summit Coffee RAD is now operating out of a food truck by River Arts District Brewing Company
Wicked Weed Funkatorium in South Slope was also closed following the hurricane and has since reopened.
Birdie’s Pizza opened July 2025
Birdie’s Pizza is a pizza restaurant located on Biltmore Avenue in the heart of downtown Asheville. The new pizza concept was established in 2025 in the former Manicomio’s location.
You’ll find a great selection of pizzas available in classic New York-style or rectangular Detroit-style crusts. They even have a gluten-free crust option for their Detroit-style pizza.
You can also order online for pick-up, making it an easy takeout option!
Zen Sushi Downtown opened June 2025
Zen Sushi is a popular sushi restaurant in Asheville, NC, with a downtown location in the S&W Market food hall. With a convenient and casual counter service restaurant, it’s a great place to grab a quick sushi roll. Their menu includes appetizers, salads, maki and hand rolls.
With delightful neighbors like Buxton Chicken Palace and Flour Cafe it’s a great place to check out with a group, especially if there are non-sushi eaters.
ButterPunk opened May 2025
ButterPunk is a biscuit shop and bakery in Asheville’s River Arts District. You’ll find daily biscuit specials, pastries, cake by the slice and extremely colorful & happy decor.
While new to the brick-and-mortar restaurant scene, owner Beth Kellerhals is a familiar and beloved face to local foodies. For years, Beth has delighted the community with her butter creations at farmers markets and pop-ups around town, building a devoted following. It was a very anticipated opening to say the least!
Dripolator Biltmore Village opened May 2025
Dripolator is a coffee shop located in Asheville, NC. The Biltmore Village location is its fifth location, situated on the north end of Biltmore Village across Biltmore Avenue from Appalachian Vintner.
At Dripolator, you’ll find friendly staff, a full range of espresso drinks and light coffee shop fare. Be sure to check out their seasonal drinks while you’re there! Dripolator is a coffee roaster and sells their whole beans by the jar.
Rowan Coffee West opened April 2025
Rowan Coffee’s West Asheville location is truly the coffee shop of our dreams. This bright and airy space, once an automotive garage, boasts vintage industrial windows, high ceilings, and exposed brick walls. There’s also a covered patio out front.
While their original downtown spot perfected the art of coffee, the expansive West Asheville space has allowed them to significantly broaden their food menu. It’s also become a community hub hosting events like oyster nights and pizza pop-ups.
Rowan Coffee is definitely at the top of our must-visit list. Don’t forget to pick up some merch and a bag of their in-house roasted coffee when you’re there!
DayTrip reopened in a new location in May 2025. It’s in the former Archetype North Asheville spot.
PhoReal opened in North Asheville in May 2025– a much-needed spot for Vietnamese food in the area!
Fitz and the Wolfe opened in the former Isa’s Bistro space in May 2025.
Baba Nahm reopened in their new Biltmore Ave location in April 2025.
The Watch opened in February 2025 in the former Exchange space.
Hail Mary opened in the former Tastee Diner spot in January 2025.
Restaurants Coming Soon
- Easy Tiger is a sports bar set to open in the former Storm Rhum location this fall. It’s by the team behind the much-loved Flour Cafe, so you can expect great food (& branding!!)
- All Day Darling is planning a second location in the Oakley neighborhood at 567 Fairview Rd.
- Gourmand had plans to open a shop in the River Arts District, but the building was destroyed during the hurricane. They are working to rebuild and hope to eventually open.
- Posana is opening a second location in the former Leo’s Italian Social in Biltmore Park.
- Munch is a late-night kitchen coming soon to DSSOLVR. They have had several pop-ups at the local brewery while they wait for the kitchen space to be complete.
- Mountain Madre announced a second location coming to North Asheville. It’s in the former Avenue M space.
- Finch Grocery flooded during the hurricane but has plans to reopen in September. They are moving to the former Scout Boutique (just in front of the original Finch!)
- Corner Kitchen was severely flooded but is working to reopen.

- Potential New Boyfriend opened in West Asheville in December 2024. It’s a dessert and listening bar open Wednesday through Sunday.
- Mattie Lou’s Bakery opened in the former Geraldine’s Bakery space in November 2024.
- DayTrip: bar and coffee shop in West Asheville (August 2024)
- Boy Howdy: burger spot located at DayTrip (August 2024)
- Dripolator opened a coffee shop in East Asheville. It’s their 4th location. (August 2024)
- Haywood Famous: Coffee shop in West Asheville (August 2024)
- Flour: breakfast eatery in S&W Market (May 2024)
- Luminosa: Italian restaurant in downtown Asheville (May 2024)
- Terra Nova Beer Co: brewery in South Slope (May 2024)
- Mission Pizza: pizza restaurant located inside Terra Nova (May 2024)
- Cooperative Coffee Shop: West Asheville coffee shop by the locally-loved Cooperative Coffee roasters (May 2024)
- Chai Pani: moved to a new location in South Slope (May 2024)
- Soprana Rooftop Cucina: rooftop restaurant with wood-fired pizza in downtown Asheville (March 2024)
- Good Hot Fish: counter service fish fry eatery in Asheville’s South Slope (January 2024)
- The Smokin’ Onion: vegan restaurant in the former Trashy Vegan space in West Asheville (January 2024)
- Bridge & Tunnel Coffee: coffee shop and eatery on the AB Tech campus (January 2024)

- Botiwalla: Casual Indian restaurant in West Asheville. It’s in the same portfolio as Spicewalla and Chai Pani. It poened August 2023.
- Regina’s: retro-style diner in West Asheville (June 2023)
- The Exchange: fine dining at The Restoration Hotel (April 2023)
- Taco Boy (Biltmore Park): taco eatery originally out of Folly Beach, SC (October 2023)
- Little Louie’s: casual West Asheville eatery with Philly sandwiches and burgers (March 2023)
- The Observatory: rooftop bar at Restoration Hotel (April 2023)
- Dripolator South: third location for this local coffee shop (June 2023)
- Finch Grocery: local marketplace and lunch eatery in Biltmtore Village. It changed hands and was slightly rebranded in 2023. Finch officially re-opened in November 2023.
- Montford Deli: closed the original Montford location and relocated to North Asheville
- Laila: Indian restaurant in downtown Asheville (October 2023)
- Rabbit Hole: bakery and coffee shop next to Sunny Point Cafe by the same owner (March 2023)
- The Draftsman: bar and lounge in the basement of The Restoration (June 2023)
- Kota Kai: coffee shop in West Asheville with a great selection of whole beans (December 2023)
- Bad Manners Coffee: West Asheville coffee shop (December 2023)
- Rebel Burger: Permanent food truck at Hi-Wire in Bilmore Village. They first opened in August out of a shared kitchen and moved to Hi-WIre in October 2023.
- The Roof: Rooftop bar located at The Radical hotel in the River Arts District (October 2023)
- Mizu Noodle and Asian Cuisine: noodle shop located next to YZ Asian Market (same owners!)
- Appalachian Mountain Brewery: new brewery in Mills River
- Hotbox: a seasonal outdoor eatery located at Ukiah Japanese Smokehouse. It’s open summer and fall through October.
- Afterglow: cafe & bar at The Radical in River Arts District
- Golden Hour: fine dining at The Radical
- Diatribe: new brewery in West Asheville
- Taqueria Munoz: opened a second location in South Asheville near I-40
- The Hound: lounge in a former Greyhound bus station in East Asheville
- Sage & Spice: market at a local caterer (salads, sandwiches, coffee) in West Asheville
- Salt Face Mule Brewing Co: brewery, restaurant and mini golf course north of Woodfin
- Sweets & Seats: pastries, cakes and outdoor furnishings (!) in downtown Asheville
- Tiki Easy Bar: tiki bar at the back of Hi-Wire South Slope
