Vortex Doughnuts

Vortex Doughnuts is a donut shop in Asheville’s South Slope neighborhood. They are unique for many reasons, one of which is that they offer both yeast and cake dough daily. Vortex typically has around 15 flavors per day and each flavor is available in the two doughs.

What’s also interesting about Vortex is that the majority of their doughnuts are vegan. In fact, you’ll see that they only mark which donuts aren’t vegan because it’s typically just a few a day. The non-vegan ones typically contain cream cheese. Vortex also has gluten-sensitive donuts available.

Apart from great donuts, Vortex is also known for their coffee and espresso drinks. They brew and sell 1000 Faces coffee and it’s one of the best cups of coffee in town!

As far as parking goes, there’s a pay-to-park lot next to Vortex and another across the street. Make sure to pay because the companies that own the lots are known to tow! There are also a few free street parking spots out front if you are lucky enough to snag one.
