A Guide To The Best ANtique STores in Asheville
I absolutely love visiting various antique stores in Asheville to see if they have any new (or old!) finds. The thrill of the search and the joy when you find the perfect piece can’t be topped. Plus, there’s the added benefit of giving items a second life.
There really are so many great antique shops in Asheville and I can rarely leave one empty-handed.
Whether it’s a vintage find from Regeneration Station, art or coffee table books from ScreenDoor or maybe a pew pulled from an old church at Antique Tobacco Barn, you are bound to find something great at an Asheville antique store.
Now, I haven’t actually purchased a church pew (yet!), but I have amassed quite a collection from our local antique stores over the years. And I have also amassed a ton of knowledge on the various shops (as well as my own thoughts!) that I am so excited to share with you in this article.
What You’ll Find In Our Asheville Antique Shop Guide

Where To Find Antiques In Asheville
Antique Shops in Asheville with Furniture, Decor, Collectibles & More
This section of our antiques guide shares all of the ‘classic’ antique shops that are a thrifter’s dream. You’ll find some that are less cluttered and more curated in this section, and others that are filled with treasures just waiting to be uncovered.
ScreenDoor is at the top of our list of the best antique shops in Asheville for a reason. Quite simply, it’s lovely. It feels open, airy and not nearly as cluttered as some other local shops.
Pieces from over 100 dealers fill the 22,000 square feet. What’s so interesting about ScreenDoor, especially when compared to some of the other local antique shops, is that it all feels of a certain quality. It’s not just junk and booths aren’t filled to the brim. It all feels thoughtful and designed.
One of my favorite things about ScreenDoor is the hidden bookstore at the back of the store. Though you’ll see books scattered about the whole shop, there is a dedicated book area where you’ll find hundreds of great reads. The walls are covered with books and there is typically only one copy of each. The books are all discounted from their original MSRP and are in great condition. It’s our go-to spot for coffee table books in Asheville.
There are also beautiful (and expensive) rugs in the back and then a ton of booths all around with various furniture, art and other decor. And don’t miss my absolute favorite vendor booth in all of Asheville! Head to the far right when you walk into the building and you’ll end up in a dark blue room with sunlight streaming in. It feels like someone’s living room with the perfect placement of furniture, rugs, plants, books and decor.
There is a large parking lot out front at ScreenDoor, so you won’t have any trouble parking. There are also packaged snacks and drinks for sale at the front. This has saved me a few times!
The Regeneration Station is another go-to for us when we are on the hunt for a certain piece or have some time on our hands for browsing.
The space is 36,000 square feet and you’ll find inventory curated both by The Regeneration Station and also from 85+ vendors. The Regeneration Station gets its inventory from local auctions, estate sales, junk removals, consigning and donations. Keep an eye out on their social media because they occasionally run specials on their inventory.
The Regeneration Station has a mix of furniture, vintage finds (art, clothing, toys, etc.) and a lot items that I have truly never seen anywhere else (like.. mannequin art!) You’ll also find modern pieces, reclaimed barn wood, local artisan finds… just cool, unique things in every direction you look.
It’s a great way to spend an afternoon and is pretty easy to get to even though it’s tucked away in Asheville. You can park by the main entrance or go around the back of the building for an additional parking lot.
Antique Tobacco Barn is the biggest antique store in Asheville.
It’s a giant warehouse-style antique store near Biltmore Village with over 77,000 square feet of space. You’ll find art prints, originals, vintage finds, furniture of every style, old doors, antique tools, garden supplies and more.
Like many antique shops in Asheville, you never know what you will find at Antique Tobacco Barn. There are over 70 vendors, so everywhere you turn you’ll find new sections and unique finds. And I’ll be honest, some of the vendor areas can get really cluttered and feel pretty junky. A picker’s dream!
They also have the local coffee cart Kafe Neo Espresso Bar set up in the front of the store, so you can start your visit off with a bit of caffeine.
You’ll find that Antique Tobacco Barn is actually a great place to spend a rainy day in Asheville because it’s enormous and you can get lost in the aisles.
There are a few parking spots out front and parking lots across the street from the entrance and around the side of the building.
Clocking in at over 9,000 feet, Altamont features unique finds from over 70 different vendors. It’s divided into several rooms and feels like a maze at times. You can really find yourself deep in the shop!
A lot of their inventory is on the smaller side— you’ll find collectibles, jewelry and trinkets. There’s also a lot of art, a few vintage clothing vendors and furniture scattered about.
Like Antique Tobacco Barn, vendor booths aren’t really separate from one another and it all just kind of flows together. Prices vary by vendor but it’s generally a budget-friendly place.
You’ll find a parking lot out front at Altamont Vintage. It is shared with the other shops located there, including Atomic Furnishings.
Sweeten Creek Antiques & Collectibles is an eclectic antique market in Asheville with 125 vendors and 31,000 square feet.
I always notice vintage items at Sweeten Creek Antiques– like, lunchboxes, toys, signs, holiday decor, travel souvenirs, etc. It would be my first stop if I was in the market for something like that.
But it’s not just collector’s items at Sweeten Creek. They also have a ton of furniture and decor and just… stuff. It’s fun to browse and make a morning of it.
There’s a large parking lot out front at Sweeten Creek Antiques. Oh, and well-behaved dogs are allowed!
Higher-End Antique Stores in Asheville, NC
Below are a few antique shops in Asheville that feature higher-end and fine antiques. You’ll find less knick knacks here and more furniture and fine art.
Biltmore Lamp & Shade Gallery is a high-end antique store in Asheville’s Biltmore Village.
As the name suggests, their inventory includes a great selection of lamps and hand-crafted lampshades. They also have some smaller, more affordable decor items as well as high-end furniture.
The shop is perfectly at home in Biltmore Village because it feels like somewhere George Vanderbilt would have shopped while furnishing the Biltmore Estate.
The antique shop is located near several other shops and restaurants in Biltmore Village, including Gardener’s Cottage which is another great place for decor.
There is some parking out front for Biltmore Lamp & Shade Gallery, though it can fill up during popular times. You can park in the main Biltmore Village area across the street and walk over, though.
Village Antiques is a high-end antique store just north of the Biltmore Village shopping and dining district. It’s a true European antique store in Asheville with 17th, 18th and 19th century French, English and American Antiques.
I’d recommend Village Antiques if you were in the market for fine antiques, but not if you were looking to find trinkets, odds & ends and good deals.
Village Antiques is located in the same building as Standard Pizza. You can park to the right of the building and take the sidewalk in.
Atomic Furnishing & Design is kind of two types of shops in one. First, you’ll find some of Asheville’s most beautiful mid-century, modern and retro furniture that has been perfectly restored. This is the work of the husband and wife duo who own the gallery.
Apart from the furniture, you’ll also find the work of over 30 different artists and vendors. It’s all mostly in a large room to the left of the entrance. Vendors are divided into stalls and you’ll find pillows, plants, art, vintage clothing, candles, rugs and more.
Atomic Furnishing is located in the same spot where Oddfellows Antique Warehouse previously lived. There’s a parking lot out front that is shared with other businesses here, including Altamont Vintage.
Uncommon Market
Uncommon Market is Asheville’s largest curated antique pop-up market. You’ll find so many great antiques, art pieces, vintage decor, jewelry and more.
The next market is April 30, 2023 in the Foundy Street area of River Arts District. There’s another on May 21, September 24 and October 29. These events are outside and friendly dogs are welcome.
They will also host their Summer Extravaganza at the Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center on August 5th and 6th, 2023. This is an indoor/outdoor event.
Their holiday market will be December 9 and 10, 2023 at the Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center.
Biltmore Antiques District
If you are familiar with Asheville’s antique scene, you may have run across the name ‘Biltmore Antiques District.’ There are so many antique shops near Biltmore Village that it became known as a destination for antiquing.
The Biltmore Antiques District name is sometimes used, but it’s not an official part of anything. Actually, I occasionally see pamphlets for it around town but who knows when they were printed. If you Google the name you’ll see that it is marked as ‘permanently closed’ which also feels wrong.
Anyway, just know that there are enough antique stores near Biltmore Village that it has become its own mini-district. They are all pretty close together and you can make a fun day out of antiquing in Asheville.
Those marked on the list below are all on the ‘official’ pamphlet and we included the others because they are in the same area of Asheville.
